Limber Limericks
How do you feel today?
Have your worries gone to lay
At the bottom of ditches
While your heart is in stitches
And you wait for the glory of May.
Ghosts move through the grass
Wringing their hands around a sweet lass
Whose pale lips move inaudible
Her famed beauty applaudable
As she fades to as pale as glass.
The wind plays with a long-haired girl,
Her skin the colour of the purest pearl,
Stealing away her breath
Hinting at an untimely death
Beneath the waves the sirens twirl.
A needle poses above the skin
Of a marked girl with a wolfish grin
She laughs as it dances
And her chance advances
Until beneath the thin the colours spin.
Sultry eyes in a vacant face
Fingers wiggling until they lace
Together with thumbs tapping
An old man at her hand lapping
As she spurs on the inevitable chase.
