Dearest Mother,

This is a letter to you

To thank you for all you have done for me

And all you have left to do

You have sacrificed so much for me

Your time, your patience, your dignity

I wish I could be everything you ever wanted

And more

You want me to be kind hearted

Have a strong mind

As well as a pretty face

But know I cannot be who you want me to be

I am not perfect

I am only human

And unfortunately that may not be good enough for you

Maybe that's why you won't take me seriously

You laugh when I try to be serious

You're serious when I try to make you laugh

We have a strange relationship

But one that I cherish dearly

You're my only friend

My best friend

And my only mother

I wouldn't want anyone else

You're perfect, mother

Yet you too are human

And hopefully I can be more like you

Lots of love, your daughter.
